We are a group of enthusiastic walkers of all ages between 20 and 70, who enjoy walking
or scrambling anywhere there are hills and mountains. We walk one Sunday a month,
travelling by coach to many beautiful places within reach of the Midlands, but principally
to three main areas:
NORTH WALES, MID WALES AND THE PEAK DISTRICT.
We offer two grades of walk: A and B:
A-Walks are 12 - 14 miles long, with a strength of medium to strong.
B-Walks are 8 - 11 miles long, with a strength of easy to medium.
The strength of the walk is dependent on the terrain as well as the distance covered.
If you are unsure of your ability, we advise new members to start with a B-Walk.
We also offer occasional weekend walks and challenge walks.

HISTORY OF THE GROUP
The Midland Hillwalkers was conceived in October 1992. At this time it had no name
and the idea was that one mini bus would take 16-18 people on good exciting walks,
getting close to the interior of mountain ranges. The first trip was to Moel Siabod
on 13 December 1992.
The group soon grew, and in April 1993 it took the name THE MIDLAND HILLWALKERS .
Mini-buses continued to be used until January 1994, by which time the group had
expanded considerably and new transport arrangements had to be made. We used a coach
for the first time in February 1994, with 48 members attending. This proved successful
and now trips are run on a regular monthly basis. Today we are a thriving club with
a large membership, but we are always pleased to welcome new members.
The group’s first weekend trip was in October 1995, when we started a long distance
walk on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast path. This was completed over a series of weekends
on a twice a year basis, and since then we have completed many other long distance
